Responsibilities Include:
Support to Peers in the Center
· Create and support a safe and welcoming space that reflects a sense of belonging and the Consortium’s organizational values
· Model Northampton Recovery Center’s Code of Ethics, Mission, and Vision
· Support peer involvement, meeting each member where they are at, using motivational interviewing, appreciative inquiry and active listening to discover their interests
§ Sit and talk with peers, engage them, find out their interests
§ Support peers with locating resources, recovery pathways, and recovery communities
§ Support and mentor peers with skill building; such as computers skills, communication skills, and leadership skills, etc.
§ Make calls to peers who haven’t been attending, follow up as appropriate
Maintain an attractive, clean and safe environment
· Prepare the space as needed for opening, prepare the space for closing daily
· Scan NRC spaces daily and address concerns as needed
· Provide training to those doing cleaning
Team with other Peer Support Employees and related staff to support/mentor/connect peers with volunteer programs and events such as;
Volunteer Peer Leadership/Resource Team
· Social Committees
· Volunteer Recognition
Data Collection
· Ensure all that are visiting the space sign in
· Assist with entry of sign in sheet to computer system
Surveys
· Make sure that surveys are available to peer members
· Ensure survey participation through discussions with peers and announcements
Professional Development
· Learn about and apply best practices with Peer-Participatory Model
· Attend regular supervision meetings
· Attend regular Staff Meetings
· Attend relevant trainings including Narcan, First Aid, CPR, facilitation training, trauma sensitive trainings, social justice related, and other identified relevant topics as needed
Travel Requirements Occasional travel within Massachusetts
Skills and Qualifications
· Lived experience in substance use recovery
· Able to work effectively as part of a team
· Demonstrated commitment to social justice
· Demonstrated leadership ability
· Knowledge of Recovery values
· Understanding of creating conditions for trauma informed engagement
· Strong understanding of and experience with Peer-Participatory Model
· Strong communication skills, especially with mutually respectful and compassionate relationships
· Ability to attend to multiple tasks smoothly with ability to prioritize demands of attention and time
· Solid problem-solving skills, including knowing when to seek assistance
· Northampton Recover Center receptionist training or similar experience
· Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
· Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Must have ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays
